Full-Width Heatsink

The G16 features 374 heatsink fins, with each stack lined with thin copper as slim as 0.1mm. This allows for a higher density and lower air resistance, providing a total of 174,183 mm² of surface area with an increase of 71.26% compared to the 2022 Strix G15. The full-width design doubles the size of a typical laptop heatsink and covers the entire rear of the machine.

Robust Cooling

In addition to making the entire rear of the machine an exhaust vent, the G16 retains its side vents for streamlined thermal offloading. The heatsinks have even been moved closer to the vents, giving hot air a straight path out of the machine to avoid recirculation. Tri-fan technology directs air through cutouts in the chassis, sending airflow directly towards internal components to keep them cool in all conditions. A third auxiliary fan sends additional heat from the GPU directly to the heatsinks, keeping the machine cool during long video renders or gaming sessions.

The Strix G16's comprehensive thermal design includes an extended heat spreader that absorbs heat from the CPU, GPU, VRAM, and VRM. Seven heatpipes and increased motherboard surface coverage sustain and extend performance and reliability.

0dB Ambient Cooling

Take advantage of truly silent cooling under light workloads with 0dB cooling technology. The cooling system switches off all fans during light tasks for passive cooling; if CPU or GPU temperatures increase, the fans automatically switch on again.

Conductonaut Extreme Liquid Metal

The 2023 Strix G16 features Thermal Grizzly's Conductonaut Extreme liquid metal thermal paste for improved heat transfer. Compared to traditional thermal pastes, this indium- and gallium-based compound offers 17 times higher conductivity in addition to CPU and GPU temperature reductions up to 15°. Please note, temperature improvements are compared to previous generation thermal compounds as tested internally by ASUS; thermal conductivity is compared to industry standards.

Dust filter

A dust filter at the intake vent stops dust and fibers from collecting inside the machine and prevents degraded performance due to overheating of components.

Connected to the Core

Connect to wired peripherals using two USB-A 3.2 Gen 2 ports, or via USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 and Thunderbolt 4 ports supporting DisplayPort Alt Mode. Thunderbolt 4

Thunderbolt 4 is a hardware interface that utilizes the reversible USB Type-C connector and features a maximum throughput of 40 Gb/s when used with compatible devices. The connector also transmits data via USB4 at up to 20 Gb/s, and dual-bandwidth DisplayPort allows you to connect a single 8K monitor or up to two 4K displays simultaneously. Additionally, you can daisy chain up to six devices from a single Thunderbolt 4 port.

USB 3.2 Gen 2

Doubling the speed of its predecessor, USB 3.2 Gen 2 features a maximum throughput of 10 Gb/s when used with compatible devices and is synonymous with USB 3.1 Gen 2.
